Mamma Teresa restaurant is the creation of owner and chef Teresa Buccolo, who moved to Poway in 2010 from Italy, where she spent her whole life and worked as a professional cook for 15 years.The menu features authentic dishes from the northern and southern regions of Italy, reflecting Buccolo’s childhood in Naples and her culinary career in Reggio Emilia. The family recipes include those from her grandmother and mother, as well as Buccolo’s own .At the core of Mamma Teresa’s dishes are fresh, top quality ingredients brought together into balanced meals that are authentically Italian.
The restaurant’s most popular dishes are family recipes diners won’t find anywhere else. For pasta, there’s the penne “Mamma Teresa” with a creamy sausage and wine sauce. The fusilli gustosi includes mushrooms, fresh spinach and gorgonzola cheese. The penne pescatore features mussels, clams, shrimps and calamari with tomato sauce. For meat and fish dishes, the tagliata di carne (top sirloin steak marinated in extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, garlic, and served over a bed of greens with parmesan flakes and balsamic vinaigrette) is a typical northern Italian dish.
